Construction and Materials
Murphy Plywood offers a range of lumber and engineered wood products, including framing lumber, hardwoods, engineered lumber like LVL, and paneling. These materials are essential components in various construction and finishing applications.
Framing Lumber
- Typically refers to softwood species such as pine, spruce, or fir.
- Used for the structural framework of buildings, including walls, floors, and roofs.
- Available in standard dimensions and grades for structural integrity and ease of use.
- The selection of framing lumber is crucial for the overall stability and load-bearing capacity of a structure.
Hardwoods
- Species such as oak, maple, cherry, or walnut are common examples.
- Known for their density, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
- Used in applications where strength and visual beauty are desired, such as cabinetry, furniture, flooring, and decorative trim.
- Hardwoods offer a premium finish and can significantly enhance the perceived value of a project.
Engineered Wood - LVL (Laminated Veneer Lumber)
- LVL is a structural product made from multiple layers of thin wood veneer bonded together with adhesives.
- Each veneer layer is laid parallel to the length of the final product.
- This construction method creates a material with consistent strength and stability, often exceeding that of solid sawn timber.
- LVL is commonly used for beams, headers, rimboard, and other applications where high strength and dimensional stability are required.
- Its uniform properties make it predictable and reliable in demanding structural roles.
Paneling
- Refers to wood panels used for decorative or protective wall coverings.
- Can be manufactured from a variety of wood species, including hardwoods and softwoods, or reconstituted wood products.
- Available in different styles, finishes, and profiles to suit diverse interior design aesthetics.
- Applications include accent walls, wainscoting, and general interior finishing.
